Align makes Invisalign, the clear braces. iTero is its scanner: a wand the dentist moves over your teeth, and a 3D model of your mouth appears. No mold.
I am a software engineer on that scanner, four and a half years now.
The problem: when a wand misbehaved, support had no way to tell why, so it was shipped to a lab. Hours later, most came back fine.
I developed the scanner's diagnostic feature. It checks the wand on the spot and tells the dentist what it needs: the lab, a new cable, or just a restart. Far fewer wands travel for nothing.
